– Feed-In Tariff

A Feed-In tariff is an amount your electricity retailer will pay you for exporting your green energy into the grid.

Households who are approved for export will be the ones who save the most on their electricity bills, as well as gain the most benefit from having solar panels installed.

It is important to note that some households might not be able to receive a feed-in tariff as there are various requirements or reasons that prohibit a full export of power.

Connecting to the grid is a pivotal part of your solar journey.

You need permission from your electricity distributor to connect, as your solar power generation affects the overall grid’s performance. A ‘Network Connection Agreement’ is lodged by us on your behalf to your distributor.

This agreement determines whether you can export unused solar power back into the grid and receive a Feed-In Tariff.

If you’re unsure who your distributor is, you can find out by looking at your power bill or contacting your retailer.

In the solar market, it’s common for larger firms to offer lower rates in an attempt to outbid others.

While we could do the same, we choose a different path – focusing on superior installations, components, and customer service.

• Examine the solar circuit breaker – Has it tripped? If so, wait until nighttime to reset it. If it trips again the next day, reach out to us immediately as it could indicate a serious issue.
• Turn off your solar PV system, then turn it back on.
• If these measures don’t resolve the issue, call us, and we can investigate your system further (note that a call-out fee may apply if your problem isn’t warranty-related).
• Locate your original paperwork in case you need to lodge a warranty claim.

If your main motivation for installing solar panels is to avoid the inconvenience of blackouts, we must clear up a common misunderstanding: having solar doesn’t automatically safeguard you from blackouts. For that, additional system fail-safes are required.

The power produced by your solar panels fluctuates depending on the sunlight they receive. Inverters convert the solar panels’ DC power into AC power, matching the grid’s frequency and voltage to synchronise power feed.

Your power demand varies as appliances are switched on or off. The grid, capable of supplying much more power than your solar system, acts as a back-up, ensuring a steady power flow to your property. Without grid connection (or other specific fail-safes), the electricity production from your solar panels would be unstable, potentially damaging appliances and posing a risk to your safety.

During a blackout, when the grid can’t stabilise power, the power supply from the solar system would fluctuate, causing damage to equipment and potentially posing harm. To prevent this, the inverter incorporates a fail-safe known as anti-islanding.

Anti-islanding is a safety feature built into energy-generating devices. It halts electricity production and disconnects the solar unit from the grid in the event of a blackout.

Most of our solar panels come with an extended 25-year performance warranty. Depending on the product you select, our panels may carry a 10 or 25-year manufacturing warranty. We also offer additional extended warranties for any REC Panel, or Q Cell Panel system we install.

For our inverters, we provide a minimum of a 5-year warranty on selected brands. Moreover, if installed through us, you might be able to register your inverter online (selected inverters only) and receive an extra 5-year Parts and Labour warranty.

As part of our commitment to the Clean Energy Council, we also provide an additional 5-year workmanship warranty for your system’s entire lifespan.
